Wanstead Trespassers Evicted

Today Redbridge Council in partnership with the MET Police have evicted a group of Travellers on an illegal encampment in Wanstead Recreation Green.

The group of trespassers arrived on the late on Friday evening, opposite number 4 Clockhouse Parade High Street, Wanstead.

Councillor Sheila Bain, Cabinet Member for Civic Pride and Councillor for Wanstead Ward said “Over the weekend a number of legally required site visits were conducted by the Redbridge Enforcement Team and the police. Following which the owner of the land was identified and we started procedures to evict the trespassers”.

The land, owned by a Redbridge based company worked with Police and Council swiftly to evict the trespassers.

Cllr Bain further said “I have spent the last few days following and directing this case personally, and can now say we have successfully evicted the trespassers. We are now working with Vision, Police and Land Owners to ensure land in the borough is secured and that future instances of traveller encampments falls over the coming months.”
