The Council is investing £120,000 to revitalise the playground in Loxford Park.

The funding comes from a £1.6million pot set aside at the last Council Budget to renew play equipment across the borough.

The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal commented, “I’m really pleased we can use funding set aside for local parks to revamp the playground at Loxford Park. I know how much local families love visiting the park & I hope this investment means they can continue to enjoy it for many years to come.”

Local Loxford Councillor Mohammed Iqbal said, “I’m delighted by the news, the funding will update play equipment in one of the most deprived and densely populated wards in Redbridge.”

“This is part of our wider plan to improve Loxford, reduce antisocial behaviour and bring pride to the area,”

Fellow Loxford Councillor Saira Jamil added: “We were pleased with the tree planting last year and the cleanup day a few weeks ago where resident got involved and this is the next step in making our area a better place to live.”

“We need more residents to get involved and speak up and report poor behaviour and take pride in our home, just a few small changes from not littering and fly tipping to tidier front gardens would make a world of difference.”

The new playground is expected to be open in the next three weeks.
