During the recent election campaign, Leader of the Council, Cllr Jas Athwal made a commitment to making Redbridge the perfect place to live, work and raise a family.
We are already a UNICEF accreditation “babyfriendly” borough and have achieved a 100%
Good or Outstanding easily years provision;
Today, Cllr Athwal went a step further and met with UNICEF for an introductory meeting to give the organisation a sense of how important being a child friendly borough is for us.
One of our election commitments was to work quickly following the election to achieving
UNICEF “child-friendly” accreditation as well.
Redbridge has a strong commitment to support Children and families through our children’s centres, recognising their achievements in improving outcomes for children and their parents.
We will continue to support our schools, ensuring all our children and young people are educated in good or outstanding schools; and continue to support the Dubs Amendment provisions for vulnerable unaccompanied children.
UNICEF will consider our application to become a Child Friendly Borough in the coming months, and we are hoping for a very positive outcome.
